Suriya wants immediate release of funds for Chitral varsity
PESHAWAR: Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Suriya Bibi emphasized the importance of quality education in tackling modern challenges.
Presiding over a meeting here, she expressed concern over Chitral University’s financial crisis and directed the Higher Education Department to release funds for it immediately.
The university requires a one-time grant of 300 million rupees, which is yet to be released.
The assistant director of the university highlighted the need for a spacious building to accommodate the growing number of students.
Additional Secretary Higher Education, Javed Iqbal, acknowledged the challenges in providing funds due to the increase in universities and assured efforts to find a solution.
Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi announced plans to meet the provincial minister agriculture to hand over the department’s building to Chitral University and form a financial working group to examine universities’ financial difficulties.
