Roads still blocked, more damages reported

CHITRAL: Roads connecting different areas in Lower and Upper Chitral are still blocked with reports of damages to more houses and other structures as rain continued on Sunday afternoon.

The Chitral-Peshawar road was also blocked at different points due to flooding in nullahs and landsliding. Huge rockfalls at Nerdit has also blocked the Chitral-Mastuj road.

The district administration of Lower Chitral today said that Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran was personally supervising the operation to clear roads for traffic and machinery abd staff of the NHA and C&W department were working in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, prolonged rain has damaged water supply lines in Chumarkhon village of Lower Chitral. The boundary wall of a government school in Drosh also caved in on Sunday.

Scores of tourists who reached Chitral on Eidul Fitr holidays were still stranded in Kalash valleys and Garam Chashma due to the blockade of roads.
