Man arrested with 45 passports released

KARACHI: A man who was arrested while going to Iran carrying 45 Pakistani passports has been released, authorities here said.

They said that the man identified as Adnan was a travel agent and arrested at Jinnah International Airport on April 8 after recovery of the 45 passports grom his luggage. 

The arrested man was released today after he fulfilled all the legal formalities and satisfied the authorities on keeping such a large number of passports. 

He told officials that the passports belonged to people intending to go to Georgia. As Georgia has no embassy in Pakistan, travel agents have to get the visa from the Georgian embassy in Tehran, Iran. 

Adnan was going to Tehran to get visas on the passports of the applicants intending to go to Georgia when he was arrested at the airport.

The arrest was a result of misunderstanding and Adnan was released after he satisfied the officials over the matter.
