Mother kills four children by poisoning

LAHORE: Four children passed away and one is hospitalized after being poisoned by their mother in Toba Tek Singh, Rescue 1122 said on Friday. 

According to the emergency service, the woman and her husband had strained relations and this morning they had a scuffle over a petty issue.

The angry woman gave poison to her five children aged between three to 13 years and then also consumed it. Soon afterwards, the condition of the kids deteriorated.

After being alerted, Rescue 1122 reached the house and shifted the children and their mother to hospital where four of the children died while their mother and the fifth kid were being treated.

Domestic violence cases have increased in Punjab in recent weeks. About four days ago, a man committed suicide after shooting his three minor daughters.

The incident occured in the Bhera tehsil of Sargodha. Police said the man had divorced his wife and his three daughters were living with her mother. He took the children to his own house and shot them before killing himself.
