28 families paid compensation in Lower Chitral

CHITRAL: The federal government paid compensation amounting to 16.1 million rupees to 28 families affected by recent heavy snowfall in different parts of Lower Chitral.

The compensation cheques were distributed among the affected people by PML-N district leadership at the office of the deputy commissioner on Saturday.

Those whose houses were totally damaged in the snowfall were given Rs700,000 while Rs350,000 compensation was paid to the owners of partially damaged houses, said the PML- N.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of PML-N Lower Chitral Advocate Abdul Wali Khan said the people of Chitral had always given referential treatment in relief and development whenever Sharif brothers have assumed power in Islamabad.

He said that rain-affected people were compensated by the federal government within a week.

He said the affected people were paid compensation cheques under the prime minister’s relief package in a record period of seven days.

He recalled that in 2016, thousands of the earthquake survivors got compensation cheques within a fortnight’s time as the then prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif released a huge amount of Rs2 billion after visiting the area ravaged by the quake.
