DC Islamabad sentenced in contempt of court case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Friday sentenced the deputy commissioner of Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon to six months\’ imprisonment in a contempt of court case.

The case related to the Memon\’s orders to arrest PTI leaders Shehryar Afridi and Shandana Gulzar under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance despite court orders.

Earlier, the court had also issued arrest warrants for the deputy commissioner after he skipped court appearances multiple times. 

Today, the court held the deputy commissioner guilty of contempt and sentenced him. However, the court have the official one month to file an appeal against the verdict.
