Chitrali student gets Youth Scientist Award

PESHAWAR: Aftab Tabassum from Garam Chashma Chitral has been given the Youth Scientist Award 2024 by Soil Science Society of Pakistan.
The award was given to her at a ceremony held at the Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. Caretaker Minister for National Food Security and Research Dr. Qaiser Abdullah Malik, university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem and Pakistan Soil Society President Dr. Zahir Ahmed Zahir jointly presented the award to Tabassum.
Ms Tabassum attributed her success to hard work and the blessings of Allah. She dedicated the award to her parents, acknowledging their unwavering support along with the dedication of her teachers.
Tabassum belongs to Bashqar Lower village of Garam Chashma. She did her matriculation from Injigan Public School and FSc from the Govt Degree College Chitral. She later obtained a master’s degree in soil and environment sciences with distinction from Agriculture University Peshawar.
She was also part of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program and spent six months at a university in Pittsburgh, United States. Moreover, the Soil Science Society of Pakistan also awarded her a gold medal.
The Youth Scientist Award is given every year to seven recipients from different universities on their outstanding achievements in the field of soil sciences.
