New caretaker chief minister of KP takes oath

PESHAWAR: The new caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice retired Arshad Ali Shah was administered oath of office by Governor Ghulam Ali here on Sunday.

Mr Shah has been inducted as the caretaker chief minister after the sudden death of Muhammad Azam Khan on Saturday.

The name of the retired judge was earlier in the day agreed upon for the caretaker chief ministership at meeting held in Governor House by former chief minister Mahmood Khan and opposition leader in the previous KP assembly Akram Khan Durrani.

The former chief minister and the opposition leader agreed on appointing retired chief judge of Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court Arshad Hussain Shah for the post.

Shah belongs to Abbottabad and was also a member of the caretaker cabinet of Azam Khan. His name was proposed by Mr Durrani. After finalization, the name was sent to KP Governor Ghulam Ali who approved it.
