LAHORE: The government of the Punjab has announced to make changes to the policy of admitting students to public sector medical and dental colleges in the province.
According to a spokesman, under a directive from Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), no additional marks will be given to any Hafiz-e-Quran for admission to the MBBS and BDS programs from this year. Earlier, Hafiz-e-Quran were given 20 marks in addition to their scores in the FSc exam.
The PMDC announced to withdraw the additional marks for Hafiz-e-Quran in pursuance to a verdict of a six-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
