DROSH: A large number of people blocked the main Chitral-Peshawar road for several houses in Drosh town on the second consecutive day on Friday against police failure to arrest the killers of two men.
The two men from Shahnigar area of Drosh were found shot dead in the Kaldam Gol area where they had gone to collect firewood early on Wednesday.
The same day, the locals blocked traffic by putting the two dead bodies on the road. They later dispersed after a district administration official assured them that the culprits would be arrested soon.
However, as the police made no headway in the case, the locals again blocked the road by holding a sit-in the Drosh bazaar. Traffic on the road remained blocked for about seven hours.
The protesters said the killers belonging to the Gujjar community had illegally built a house in the community pasture and the district administration did not take any action against him.
On the assurance of the district administration that the killer would be arrested within two days and their houses would also be demolished, the protesters dispersed from the road.
According to the FIR of the double murder case, Ashraf Nabi along with a neighbour Ihsanuddin was bringing firewood from Muxo Ghari in Kaldam Gol when they were shot dead by a Gujjar community man identified as Noor Alam of Shahnigar at Banda Noor Alam at about 5:30am. The complaint said after killing the two, the suspect along with his family escaped from the area.
