CHITRAL: Though Chitral is a peaceful area, police should avoid complacency and remain on alert round-the-clock to check any untoward incident. Moreover, foreigners working on different projects in the valley should be provided foolproof security.
This was stated by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Nasir Mehmood Satti at a police Darbar and briefing here on Monday. District Police Officer (DPO) Salahuddin Kundi was present on the occasion.
The RPO said Chitral is famous the world over for its scenic beauty and attracts a large number of tourists every rear, especially during the annual Shandur and Kalash tribes’ festivals.
He added that the police should continue playing its role in the promotion of tourism in Chitral by ensuring a safe environment for the visitors and guiding them too.
The RPO also asked all station house officers (SHOs) to make the police stations public-friendly and accessible to the citizens. He said all police officials should perform their duty with dignity and pride and give respect to the citizens.
He said crackdown on drug peddling should continue and elements involved in the anti-social activity should be brought to justice.
The RPO was on the occasion briefed about the working of the police and its units, including police stations, posts, projects, foreign tourists and workers as well as crime and border areas.
Mr Satti also distributed appointment letters among the newly-inducted constables of Lower Chitral police.
