CHITRAL: The heirs of a police constable, who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty last year, were handed over cheques worth Rs10 million under the Shuhada Package of the government.
The policeman, Arbab Uddin, was martyred when an unknown attacker opened fire on a police checkpost in Ursun area of Lower Chitral a year ago. The mastermind of the attack was later arrested by the police.
In a press release today, the Lower Chitral police said that on the direction of the inspector general of police (IGP) District Police Officer Salahuddin Kundi handed over the compensation cheques to the heirs of the martyred policeman.
