CHITRAL: There has been a lot of snowfall in Chitral this year, as a result, roads were closed in many areas, especially in Parabek valley. However, the contractor of National Highway Authority (NHA) worked day and night to make the road clear of snow and reopened it for traffic.
Though the heavy snowfall in Chitral this year has brought smiles on face of farmers people in many areas are also facing difficulties due to the closure of many valleys and village roads.
The people of Garam Chashma valley celebrate Pathak festival in February every year in memory of renowned spiritual leader Pir Nasir Khusro in which they also send traditional dishes and gifts to each other. But due to the road closure and heavy snowfall in this area, they were facing a lot of difficulties in reaching each other’s houses.
Because of the cold weather, the snow does not melt quickly. In order to provide convenience to the people, the staff and contractor of National Highway Authority (NHA) cleared the road from Chew Bridge to Parabek valley.
Local people were very happy on opening of the road and also thanked the NHA officials. They said there was a lot of snow in the area and its melting was slow. It was very difficult for the local people to travel.
NHA official Inamul Haq said they tried their best to provide clean roads to the people. He said the maintenance section had the responsibility of this road from Chew Bridge to Shah Salim. Now there is a lot of snow here but the road is open and people can travel easily.
