CHITRAL: People of Seen near Chitral town held a protest rally against government plan to construct the building of Chitral University on their agricultural land.
The protesters led by Abdul Hakim were carrying banners and chanting slogans for acceptance of their demands and held the protest at Garam Chashma Road.
Speaking on the occasion, the protesters said the government had already purchased 166 kanals of barren land at Saeedabad but was adamant on establishing the university on the agricultural land of the people of Seen.
Through a resolution, the protesters called upon the government not to construct the university at the agricultural land or pay them compensation at the market rate.
It may be noted that geologists have termed the site at Saeedabad near Drosh selected for the construction of University of Chitral campus unfeasible saying the region was hazard-prone and lacked basic infrastructure facilities.–GH Farooqui
