Independence Day celebrated across Chitral

BOONI: The diamond jubilee of Pakistan was celebrated by government departments and civil society with flag-hoisting ceremonies and rallies across Chitral on August 14, 2022.

The Ismaili regional Council Upper Chitral arranged a diamond jubilee independence day function at the deputy commissioner office in Booni in which government officials and people from different walks of life participated. Police personnel and Ismaili Boy Scouts presented salute to the national flag at the hoisting ceremony.

A blood grouping camp was also arranged by the Aga Khan Health Service on the occasion. Later, a walk was held from the DC office to the Booni bazar to create awareness of cleanliness. The participants of the walk also cleaned streets on the route.

Similar functions were also held in public and private education institutions in different parts of the district.

In Lower Chitral, flag-hoisting ceremonies were also arranged by the district administration and educational institutions, including the University of Chitral.

Independence Day celebrated across ChitralVice Chancellor Chitral University Prof Zahir Shah hoisted the national flag at a ceremony held at the lawn of the university. The winners and runner-ups of different games held in the sport week at the university were also given trophies and awards.  

A jeep rally to celebrate the independence day was also taken out from the university to the Jughore bridge in which university students, faculty and others participated.

Chairman Village Council Ayun II Muhammad Rehman was chief guest at a function held at Govt High School Ayun. Schoolchildren presented tableau and national songs. 

Speakers on the occasion highlighted the sacrifices of Pakistan Movement leaders and the Muslims of the subcontinent to carve out a separate country. They stressed the need to promote education and rule of law to make Pakistan a truly welfare state as visualized Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
