Booni Gol flooded after heavy rain

BOONI: Heavy rain after a long dry spell on Saturday triggered flooding in Booni Gol and other nullahs in different parts of Chitral, forcing people living along the streams to run for safety, and blocking roads.

However, there was no report of major damages to properties.

The flood in Booni Gol washed away water canals and cut off water supply lines to many localities. 

Meanwhile, the torrential rains also caused flooding in nullahs in different villages in Upper and Lower Chitral and blocked traffic.

The Yarkhun road was blocked at Pasum Gol while the main Chitral-Peshawar road was blocked at Bakrabad, Chumarkhon and Baradam, said Rescue 1122.

There were also reports about flash flooding in far-off villages of Torkhow and Yarkhun, the most badly hit area being Terich.

Moreover, work to clear Garam Chashma road was underway and till late in the evening, the road had been opened at three blocked points, said the PDMA on Saturday night.
