Three-day Shandur festival from July 1: KP govt

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced that the annual Shandur Polo Festival will be held from July 1 to 3 st the world’s highest polo ground in Upper Chitral.

Teams from Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan will compete in freestyle polo matches in the festival which will also feature other traditional games and music.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan has directed Secretary Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Muhammad Tahir Orakzai and Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority  Muhammad Abid Khan Wazir to take necessary measures in executing the festival in a befitting manner.

This version of the game played at Shandur has attained legendary status and attracts thousands of foreign and domestic tourists to watch the thrilling matches of polo between the teams of Chitral and GB.
