Chief Minister’s Polo Cup Tournament gets underway

CHITRAL: The Chief Minister’s Polo Cup Tournament 2022 started at the Chitral town polo ground on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Anwarul Haq inaugurated the tournament by throwing the ball into the ground in presence of a large number of players and polo enthusiasts.

Players showing outstanding performance in the tournament will be selected for the annual Shandur polo festival to be held in the first week of July.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said polo players in Chitral had been trying their level best to keep the traditional game of the valley alive despite rising cost to keep horses.

He said the district administration would extend all-out support to the district polo association in its efforts to resolve problems faced by the polo players.
