Khadija Bibi accuses rivals of trying to remove her from contest

DROSH: Awami National Party (ANP) candidate for the slot of tehsil council Drosh chairperson Khadija Bibi on Sunday accused her opponents of being behind an attack on her at a function in the Shishi valley of Lower Chitral.

Talking to ChitralToday correspondent, she said under a conspiracy she had been invited to inaugurate a bridge in the Goren Gol area of Shishi valley. At the end of the function, some people all of a sudden attacked her, misbehaved and even pulled her Dupatta. They then detained her there for about three hours, she alleged.

Despite contacting the police, they reached the spot after four hours and did not register an FIR against the culprits, she complained.

Ms Khadija said that DSP Drosh Ajmal Khan was responsible for orchestrating the incident and then pressuring the police not to register the FIR at the behest of her political rivals.

The ANP leader said she was the only woman candidate for the tehsil slot and was being supported by an overwhelming majority of people in the area due to which her opponents wanted to remove her from the scene through such pressure tactics.

She called upon the inspector general of the police and the district police officer Lower Chitral to take notice of the incident, arrest the culprits and also order action against the DSP for not registering the case.–Bashir Hussain Azad
