Dilapidated Kosht bridge closed by district admin

BOONI: As the government failed to release funds for the reconstruction of a new RCC bridge connecting Kosht, the district administration on Monday announced to close the old bridge.

In a statement, the district administration said that on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmed Afridi, Additional Assistant Commissioner Torkhow/Mulkhow Rab Nawaz visited the bridge and found it dilapidated and broken.
The official decided to close the bridge and directed the SHO concerned to immediately implement the direction in order to avoid any untoward incident.

The old bridge at the site was washed away by river flooding in 2015. In May 2016, a makeshift bridge at the site collapsed killing three people.

Later, the KP government sanctioned the construction of the RCC bridge under its annual development programme (ADP) which has been in the doldrums.
