Work on Shandur road underway at five points: NHA
CHITRAL: Work has been started on five points on state land on the construction of the 153-km-long Chitral-Shandur road, a meeting here was informed on Wednesday.
NHA’s project director (PD) of the road, Tariq Memon said 15 bridges would be constructed on the road. At the moment, work on Shandur road is underway to widen it, he said at the meeting held at the DC office.
The PD of the Kalash valleys road project, Rafiq Alam, said the Ayun bypass road would have to be constructed under a survey carried out earlier as part of the Kalash valleys road.
He said in case of widening and constructing the existing road in Ayun, a big portion of the population would be displaced.
On this MPA Wazirzada wondered why the NHA was changing its plan. If the old road was not to be reconstructed why a survey was carried out recently.
He said untill this issue is resolved, work on the remaining 42 km road from Ayun to Kalash valleys should be started.
Wazirzada and DC Hassan Abid then decided that the matter would be taken up with the chairman of the NHA, so that work on the project could be initiated without further delay.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
