BOONI: Students from the Govt Degree College for Girls Booni blocked the Chitral-Mastuj road at Khandan against shortage of teachers in their college on Thursday.
The students took out a rally and staged a sit-in on the road chanting slogans demanding filling of the vacant posts of teachers.
They said out of the total 24 sanctioned posts, 12 were vacant. Of the 12 available staff, one is the principal and one is the librarian and there are only 10 teachers for teaching hundreds of students.
They also said whenever teachers are sent to the college, they get themselves transferred, badly affecting the studies of the students.
Despite repeated demands, the government has failed to resolve the issue, compelling the students to launch the protest.
The students said they would continue their protest till the issue is resolved on a permanent basis.–
Last month, students of Govt Degree College for Boys Booni had also held a protest against lack of facilities in the college.–Sher Afgan
