Sugar available at controlled rate in Chitral, says official

CHITRAL: Sugar is being sold to consumers at the controlled rate of the government at Rs85 per kg in all utility stores across Chitral.

This was stated by Assistant Director Consumer Protection Irfan Aziz while talking to media here on Saturday.

He said the government had fixed the price of sugar at Rs104 in the open market but retailers were fleecing the consumers by charging them Rs120 per kg.

He said if any shopkeeper was found selling sugar for more than Rs104 in Chitral, he would be fined Rs50,000.

He said there is no shortage of the commodity in the utility stores across Chitral and according to regional manager of the utility outlets there is 532 matric tons of sugar available at the moment in Chitral.

He said complaints about sale of sugar at high rate can be lodged at mobile phone number: 03333339733 for action, and immediate action would be taken against the violators.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
