Garam Chashma cut off after bridge collapse

GARAM CHASHMA: The whole valley of Garam Chashma was on Tuesday cut off from the rest of the country after a dilapidated bridge on the only road to the area collapsed under the weight of an overloaded truck.

Local residents told ChitralToday that the bridge over Lotkoh  River  (Chumur Ser) near Droshp village collapsed when a truck loaded with potatoes was crossing it. However, there was no loss of life in the accident.

They said the truck was carrying 138 bags of potatoes. Rescue 1122 staff reached the spot with machinery but they could not pull the stuck-up truck out.

People of Lotkoh have for long been demanding the government should reconstruct the Garam Chashma road. But the PTI government has put the project prepared by the previous PML-N government in the cold storage.

Due to lack of maintenance, the road along with a number of bridges has been in a dilapidated condition for long, causing frequent accidents.
