No Shandur festival for second year

PESHAWAR: There will be no annual Shandur festival this year too, the KP tourism department announced on Monday.

The festival could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the year 2020 as well. However, local enthusiasts celebrated the Shandur festival amid pandemic on their own.

A notification issued by the KP culture and tourism authority said in line with the direction of the NCOC a meeting was held in which it was decided that during the event strict guidelines to check the spread of the coronavirus will not be possible.

Therefore, the Shandur festival 2021 has been cancelled in best public interest, it added.
