CHITRAL: The fire that erupted in a forest in the Birir valley of Lower Chitral on Saturday could only be controlled partially on the second day on Sunday.
Rescue 1122 on Sunday said its staff along with the Chitral Levies, district administration, forest department and the local people continued efforts to extinguish the flames but by evening due to strong winds it spread again.
Pictures of the fire raging in the forest showed a number of trees already felled and some logs lying nearby. So far, it is unclear what caused the fire in the forest.
