Ismaili community launches cleanliness drive

BOONI: As a part of the Ismaili Muslim community’s global CIVIC initiative, the volunteers and Imamat organizations launched a cleanliness campaign in Booni in connection with the World Environment Day on May 5 (Saturday).

Under the Ismaili CIVIC, the Shia Ismaili Muslim community around the world has united to serve humanity by rendering service to improve the quality of life of the communities in which they live.

The campaign in Booni was launched by holding an awareness walk from the local medical centre to the tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital. Volunteers from the community collected trash, plastic materials and other waste from the roadsides as well as from the premises of the hospital and disposed them of.

At a function held at the hospital, community leaders and government officials highlighted the importance of cleanliness. They also stressed the need for remedial measures to mitigate the impact of climate change in areas such as Chitral.–Karim Ullah
