Kalash valleys road: Rs2.10bn estimated for land acquisition

CHITRAL: The federal government has agreed to revise the estimate of cost for acquisition of land for the construction of the Chitral-Kalash valleys road.

Chief minister’s special assistant Wazirzada told ChitralToday  that earlier the estimate for land acquisition was very low and that was why acquiring land for the project was not easy.

He said now the government has agreed to enhance the allocation to Rs2.10 billion to make the construction of the road in accordance to the earlier alignment possible.

He said the assurance was given by federal minister for communication Murad Saaed to a delegation led by MNA Molana Abdul Akbar Chitral and comprising Mr Wazirzada and others at a meeting with the former.

However, he added, it would take four to five months to approve the revised estimate as it would pass through a number of phases.

Mr Wazirzada said the federal minister also told the delegation that the process for acquisition of land for Chitral-Shandur and Chitral-Garam Chashma road was ongoing and work on these projects would start soon.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
