Group of contractors supports official accused of corruption

CHITRAL: A group of contractors on Thursday came up in support of a tehsil municipal administration official who was accused of corruption by another group a few days ago.

On February 28, some contractors at a press conference alleged that that the tehsil officer infrastructure (TOI) Chitral Noor Nawaz was involved in corrupt practices, including asking for bribe and misbehaving with them.

The TOI was removed from the post and in his place Noor Nawaz was posted as the TOI.

But on Thursday, contractors Salahuddin, Israruddin, Kifayatullah, Sarfarazuddin, Shuja and others held a press conference and said Noor Nawaz was an honest official and started an inquiry into Golen Gol project due to which an attempt was made to remove him from the post.

They alleged that a corruption of Rs9 million was committed through fake signatures in the TMA.

They said without holding an inquiry, removal of Noor Nawaz was an injustice and against the rules. They also said Saifur Rehman had no capacity to become the TOI.

In reply to a question, the contractors said they did not support Noor Nawaz but had decided to speak against an injustice with him.—Muhkam Uddin Ayuni

  1. It was expected. As per tradition whatever the issue be or regardless of who is wrong and who is right, whenever few people address a press conference against any government official, soon another group will come up in support of the official. What can we call this?
