CHITRAL: Employees of audit and accounts department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Chitral held a two-hour strike on Tuesday to protest government’s discrimination against them in terms of salary and other privileges.
During the pen-down strike, the employees also held a protest on the premises of the district accounts office and chanted slogans in support of their demands. They were also carrying placards.
Speaking on the occasion, KP auditors’ association’s sub-committee Chitral office-bearers including Abdul Qdir, Muhammad Ali Baig, Fazle Haq, Meraj Ahmed and Ahmed Hafiz said the auditors and other staff of the department had for long been ignored by the government.
They said employees of some selected departments were being showered with all facilities and perks while auditors, who performed more important and difficult tasks, were not given their rights.
They demanded that the salaries and perks of the employees of the audit and accounts departments should be brought at a par with those in the FBR, NAB, judiciary and FIA otherwise the auditors and accountants would be left with no other other option but to lock their offices and launch a protest movement.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
