Death toll from cylinder blast/fire increases to two

CHITRAL: The death toll from the gas cylinder blast/fire in Ayun increased to two as another injured passed away in a Peshawar hospital early on Saturday.

On Friday, Tania, age six years, daughter of Manzoor Ahmed, died from the burns. On Saturday, another daughter of Manzoor, identified as Kehkeshan, also succumbed to her injuries.

Manzoor was also injured when the incident occurred in his brother Shakir Ullah’s house in Muldeh locality of Ayun.

Seven of the right family members were on Wednesday shifted to Peshawar due to lack of facilities at the DHQ hospital Chitral.

A burn and trauma centre established at the DHQ hospital through foreign funding a few years ago could not be made operational so far.

The injured are admitted to a burn and trauma centre in Hayatabad. Their relatives have appealed to philanthropists to help the victims as they were unable to bear the expenses.–GH Farooqui
