MNA asks govt to resolve issues facing by people of Chitral

CHITRAL: MNA Molana Abdul Akbar on Thursday asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to resolve Chitral’s public issues, especially in the health sector.

Speaking at a press conference along with Jamaat-e-Islami Chitral chief Molana Jamshed Ahmed, former union council nazim Shamsher Khan, Mehtarxao Abdul Qadir and Zakir Hussain, the MNA said the recent floods in Golen valley washed away water supply lines of Mori lower, Koghuzi, Barghuzi and other villages along with Chitral town creating an acute shortage of drinking and irrigation water.

He said the government should declare these areas calamity-hit and provide funds for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure.

He regretted that the government was spending billions of rupees on its plantation drive across the country but in Chitral orchards and green forests were disappearing.

The MNA said the number of patients in Chitral was increasing but the government was least bothered to fill the vacant posts of doctors and ensure other facilities at the District Headquarters Hospital Chitral, THQ hospitals in Booni and Drosh and the regional health centres of Arandu and Warijun.

According to the health department, as many as 72 of the total 97 sanctioned posts of medical officers (male) and 11 of the 12 sanctioned posts of female medical officers are vacant in Chitral, he added.

He said work remained stopped on the reconstruction of flood-damaged bridges in Ayun, Broz, Pokel, Oveer, Kosht and Mulkhow, creating problems for the local people.

The MNA said heads of different departments in the new district of Upper Chitral were staying in Booni instead of serving people in their respective tehsils.

He said work on the Chitral-Buzund road was progressing at a snail’s pace, adding the C&W department should clarify the issue.

The MNA said the government should take serious measures to tackle the growing issues of the people of Chitral.
