Chinese engineer drowns in Chumarkhan stream
MASTUJ: A Chinese mining engineer died after drowning in Chumarkhan Gol near Chapali on Friday.
Local resident Akhtar Shad told ChitralToday that three engineers working for a Peshawar-based mining company were visiting Chumarkhan Gol.
One of the engineers had crossed two wooden planks placed over the stream in Chap Chiragh area on foot but his two colleagues fell down while crossing it. One of them identified as Yu Cheng and was swept away by the gushing water.
Local volunteers recovered the body of Mr Cheng from the water after which army and police officers and personnel reached the area and shifted it to Chitral town.
The Chinese engineers had reached Chapali on Thursday evening from a visit to Yarkhun.
