Lawyers rally in support of Supreme Court judge
CHITRAL: The Chitral District Bar Association on Saturday took out a rally in support of Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court.
The lawyers criticized the prime minister for filing a reference against Justice Isa in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
The reference has been initiated on an allegation that the judge’s family owned assets abroad which were not declared by him.
Addressing a gathering at Bazaar bridge, lawyers Abdul Wali Khan, Khurshid Hussain Mughal, Sajid Ullah, Niaz A. Niazi, Burhan Shah, Muhammad Kausar and others said after its failure to serve the masses the ‘selected’ government had started targeting the judiciary.
The ‘puppet’ government is trying to tarnish the image of a respectable judge in order to remove him and bring in its own favourite, they added.
They said the PTI government was the most incompetent in the history of Pakistan and the prime minister could not be trusted because he says something in the morning and takes a u-turn on it in the evening.
Imran Khan is living in a 375 kanals house at Banigala but his government is bulldozing shelters of poor people, they added.
They also said that the PTI government had made the life of the common people miserable and had no justification to remain in power.
They said the lawyers across the country would not sit silent if the government removed Justice Isa.
The lawyers in Chitral would fully support Pakistan and provincial bar councils in their protest against the government move, they said.
