Woman, son among three killed as landslide hits house in Denin
CHITRAL: Three people, including a woman and her son, lost their lives after a landslide hit a house in the Gazandeh locality of Denin early this morning, according to rescue officials and local people.
The District Disaster Management Unit (DDMU) belived that blockage of a water channel caused seepage and brought down the mass of soil into the house.
The incident occurred at 5:30am when the inmates were asleep and razed two rooms of the house of Wasim Khan. As a result, three people were buried alive under the debris.
When Rescue 1122 staff reached the house, local people had retrieved the body of a 65-year-old woman who had come to stay in the house overnight along with her son from Goldeh in Broz.
The bodies of the two others, the son of the woman and the house owner – were taken out by the rescuers after half an hour.
They were identified as house owner Wasim Khan, 35, son of Shokor Khan, and Tanvir, son of Qurban Khan, resident of Goldeh, Broz.
Officials said Tanvir and his mother had come to the house to meet their relatives when the incident occurred.
