Work on Chakdara-Chitral-Gilgit road project continues, meeting told

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday directed the departments concerned to focus on CPEC related projects Gilgit-Shandur-Chitral and Chakdara road and accelerate works on these projects.
The meeting was informed that the Gilgit-Shandur via Chitral to Chakdara road was an alternative route to CPEC.
“Work on this project is going on and ECNEC has already approved it. However, there should be a special focus on the Gilgit side of the project,” the meeting was informed.
The chief minister directed to arrange a meeting in Islamabad to bring and resolve this at a proper forum. He directed for a feasibility report on the greater Peshawar region circular railway project. The meeting was informed about the two power projects negotiated with the company which would be initiated soon.
Mr Khan said the province had vast water resources that could be utilized for power production. He said he had taken up with WAPDA the upgradation of power transmission and grid stations.
“Still we need to have our own mechanism for the consumption of locally produced power from our own projects,” he added.
