Encroachment on land of Kalash community won’t be allowed: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday said he will not allow anyone to encroach land of the Kalash community.

Hearing a case in Supreme Court, CJP said Kalash is one of the beautiful valleys of Pakistan and its residents are also Pakistani citizens.

He said that the problems people of Kalash are facing should be addressed and resolved on an immediate basis.
The top court also issued notices to the elected representatives of Kalash.

The court was hearing a suo motu case regarding illegal occupation of Kalasha people’s land. The bench was informed that the trial court had given verdict in favour of the real owners but the judgment had been challenged in upper court.

The CJP also remarked that the government should ensure that the Kalash community people are not facing any forced conversion.
