Mulki Cup Tournament concludes, polo final delayed

CHITRAL: A large number of people thronged the polo ground on the final day of the Mulki Cup Polo Tournament on Sunday but the final of the polo match could not be played as the ground was too wet after rain.

As other traditional games of Chitral were also part of the tournament, winners of most of them including tug of war were given awards and trophies.
Around 45 teams took part in the polo tournament and the final is yet to be played between the teams of Chitral Scouts and police. It was decided that the final would be played on Monday or Tuesday when the ground becomes dry.
Earlier in the day, a culture show, Mushaira and a book fair were held at the Govt Commerce College Chitral where students of the University of Chitral also set up stalls of handicrafts, preparation of mineral water by students from Golen, composition of Chitral’s folk songs in a local studio and the idea to launch a taxi service in Chitral on subsidized fare.
Chief guest of the event, Commandant Chitral Scouts Col Moin Uddin, distributed trophies among the players and captains of different teams. The event ended with a musical programme in which the chief guest along with Deputy Commissioner Irshad Sodhar, Shahzada Siraj Ul Mulk and foreign tourists danced to the tune of the Chitrali music. –Reporting by Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
