Dengue awareness walk held in Chitral

CHITRAL: A walk was arranged in the Chitral town to create awareness among the citizens about dengue mosquitoes and how to protect oneself from its bite on Wednesday.

The walk started from polo ground gate and after passing through Atalegh Bazar and converted into a public meeting at Atalegh Bridge. The walk was held by Rural Development Department and local government in collaboration with Tehsil Municipal Administration.

District Naib Nazim Maulana Abdul Shakoor, Assistant Director RDD Eng Faheem Jalal, TMO Qadeer Naseer, Deputy DHO Dr Ziaullah Khan and village council nazimeens and others participated in the walk.

Last year, scores of people lost their lives when dengue diseases spread in the Peshawar city and other areas.

The citizens were told to always keep their environment, especially houses, clean and do not let water to stand and accumulate at any point to check the breeding of the dengue mosquitoes. –GH Farooqui
