500 clerics submit documents to get stipends from KP govt

Faheemul Jalal, Assistant Director Rural Development, said about 500 clerics attended a session held in Chitral on Sunday and submitted their documents for verification. This is a part of initiative by the provincial government for paying them a monthly stipend of Rs10,000. Assistant Commissioner Chitral Sajid Nawaz was the chief guest at the function. The participants on the occasion asked about the continuation of the honoraria. Mr Nawaz told them that it would continue and would be increased by the passage of time. The prayers leader and hhateebs of different mosques appreciated the step of the government to evaluate the poverty of religious scholars and eradicate their dependency on others. They said in the past these clerics also played the role of judges and resolved local disputes. Some religious scholars on the occasion also talked about the district administration’s new move to also pay royalty of forest to women members of royalty holders and said it was a positive step. District Khateem Maulana Fazal Maula and Khateeb Bazar Masjid Maulana Israruddin Alhilal were also present.]]>
