CHITRAL: Over 200 employees of the land settlement office of the revenue department in Xang Bazaar Chitral continued their token protest since Jan 19.
Carrying banners and placards, the protesters were demanding immediate fulfillment of their charter of demands. Their demands included issuance of a notification for the regularization of their services.
Talking to this correspondent, Nisar Ahmad said the notification regarding the regularization of the employees had been awaited for since long and the department also lacked budgets. Qaisar Irshad said: “We have been serving here since long but are not being regularized as permanent employees of either the land settlement or revenue departments.”
They warned that if their charter of demands was not fulfilled they would start a complete strike from Feb 20.
Shoaib Ahmad Advocate said he visited the land settlement office to get a property certificate required for a under-trial case in court but the staff was on strike. As a result, his time was wasted and other people were also facing such hardships.
