Public liaison councils activated in four police stations
CHITRAL: The UNDP under the Strengthening Rule of Law Program works on the Community Policing Project in 10 districts of KP, including Chitral.
The Program is funded by European Union and the implementing partners are KP Police Department and an NGO Holistic Understanding for Justified Research and Action (HUJRA).
The HUJRA organization has its intervention in the four model police stations of Chitral: Drosh, Ayun, Shoghore and Booni. The purpose of the program is the establishment/reactivation of community policing forum/public liaison council under each model police station according to the Police Act 2017 in Consultation with the concerned district police officer, says a press release.
The main objective of the CPF/PLC will be to engage the community by providing a formal platform to raise public safety issues highlight local problems and try to find local solutions in collaboration with police.
For this purpose, the public liaison councils have been established/reactivated in all the above four model police stations in consultation with the concerned police stations. The public-police forums will also be arranged under each police station to highlight the local issues prevailing in the areas. Through this forum the people will find an easy platform to raise the communal issues which will be answered/solved by the officials of the concerned police station.
