PESHAWAR: Apropos a news item published a few days ago captioned, “Chitrali doctor issued notice in negligence case”.
The news report stated that the Peshawar High Court issued notice to “Dr Siddique Chitrali and others on a petition filed by Gul Hamaad Farooqui through his counsel Muhibullah Terichvi.” The report said the 13-year-old son of Mr Farooqui “died after a wrong operation of appendix by Dr Siddique Chitrali and others.” However, Dr Siddique Ahmad said he neither conducted any operation on the said patient nor delayed the procedure or was involved in it at any stage. He said the father of the boy had levelled allegations against over 20 doctors of different hospitals in Peshsawar who were issued the notice by the PHC. Dr Ahmad said by mentioning only his name in the news report the reporter had tried to tarnish his reputation as a well-known surgeon.
