Bodies of two Chitralis identified through DNA testing

The hospital management said each body after the DNA and other legal process would be shifted to CMH in Rawalpindi till the identification of all the victims. After the identification of all the victims, they would be taken to Chitral in a C-130. Relatives of the Chitrali people who lost their loved ones in the air crash, however, slammed the attitude of the government and political parties and the management of PIMS hospital for rubbing salt to their injuries. One of the relatives told ChitralToday that the hospital management had informed them that 30 bodies had been identified through the DNA testing and would be handed over to the relatives at 3pm on Wednesday. In this regard, he added, tables for the coffins and wreaths were arranged on the premises of PIMS. Soon a number of politicians, including Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, PTI’s Naeemul Haq and Ahmed Raza Qasuri of the APML, arrived and started making selfies. Later, the management officers of PIMS came out to inform the grief-stricken waiting relatives that the bodies of only two Chitralis had so far been identified. But even the two bodies were not handed over to the relatives. Instead of pressuring the government for the early identification of the bodies, MPA from upper Chitral, Sardar Hussain on the occasion thanked the government for its ‘cooperation’. A number of youth from Chitral then confronted PTI leader Naeemul Haq and slammed his party chairman Imran Khan and KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for not visiting the relatives camping outside the PIMS hospital for around a week. The KP chief minister visited the house of Osama Ahmad Waraich in Islamabad a few days ago to condole his death but did not bother to meet the relatives of the other victims waiting for the bodies of their loved ones at PIMS. Talking to the media, the relatives said the government should expedite the identification process of the bodies so that the relatives could take them to their hometowns for burial.]]>
