CHITRAL: Speakers at a ceremony here asked women writers to play their role in promotion of Khowar language.
Tehsil Nazim Chitral Maulana Muhammad Ilyas was chief guest while the ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr Badshah Muner Bukhari, the director of the Urdu Department at Peshawar University.
Addressing the ceremony, Iqraruddin Khisro said KAQ is a literary organization which encourages writers and poets of Khowar language, especially women. Professor Dr Bukhari said a fully-fledged university was the dire need of modern era for Chitral. He regretted that there were three universities in Dir district where there were only 500 students.
On the other hand, Chitral has 7,000 graduate students but only two campuses of universities. He said revolution in France was started by literarily segment of society and a few writers not by politicians or generals. And our writers should bring a positive revolution in the education sector.
The Tehsil Nazim hailed the contribution of poets and writers to guide the nation on the right path. He said that our holy Prophet Muhammad also appreciated poets who worked for the promotion of Islam. He announced Rs.20,000 for Khowar Ahle Qalam.
At last, the cake the 2nd founding anniversary of KAQ was cut by the chief guest. The chief and other guests presented awards to writers, poets, poetess, columnists of Chitral. They were: Noorul Hadi Masroor, Muhammad Ayaz Ameen, Ihsan Danish, Shamsul Arifeen, Ataur Rehman, Ameer Malik Shad, Ms Farida Sultana, Ms Sameera Sadaf, Ameenur Rehman Chughtai, Muhammad Irfan Irfan, Mola Nigah Nigah, Naji Khan Naji, Iqbaluddin Sahar and Gul Murad Hasrat.
Talking to this scribe, Farida Sultana and Sameera Sadaf expressed their great pleasure for being nominated as women writers, poetess and columnists for the awards. Ameenu Rehman Chughtai and Iqbaluddin Khisro said they were encouraging women to come forward and play their role in promoting Khowar language. Badshah Munir also announced to get the monthly Khowar magazine published.
A large number of poets, poetess, writers, columnists and intellectuals participated in the ceremony.–GH Farooqui
