80pc work on Booni bridge complete: DC
During a visit to the town in the early week of February this year, the DC had set the deadline of April 15th to complete the project.
It may be noted that work on the construction of the bridge started in April 2012 but due to corruption and non-release of funds on time, the project could not be completed even after four years.
At the time of its launch, an amount of Rs40 million had been sanctioned but the government released only Rs19.2 million out of which Rs2 million were paid to the owners of land acquired for the project.
The residents of the area have been complaining against the slow pace of work at the site. The personal interest taken by the deputy commissioner Chitral to complete the project has rekindled hopes among the area people that they would see the completion of the project very soon.
