Calamities-hit Chitralis to get plots in safer place: CM

Chief minister Pervez Khattak says people of Chitral displaced by floods and other calamities would be provided plots in safer places.

He said internal roads in Chitral would be improved in the current financial year as roads in all major cities were being rehabilitated under the urban uplift program.

Talking to a representative delegation of Chitral, Pervez Khattak announced that people of natural calamities prone areas of Chitral will be given residential plots in the proposed housing colony to be established at a safer place. The delegation, led by MPA Fauzia Bibi, called on the chief minister here today, says a handout issued by the chief minister office. The high-ups of the departments dealing with rehabilitation of earthquake and flood-hit areas of Chitral were also present.

The chief minister said he had issued orders for setting up of a university in Chitral and concerned departments were supposed to expedite progress on this project which would help the people of the remote Chitral district to have the higher education facilities in their home district.

He assured the delegation that the Chitral roads and other earthquake and flood-affected infrastructure facilities would be rehabilitated at any cost and on a priority basis and the donors’ conference was held by the provincial government for the rehabilitation projects of devastated Chitral district.

Assuring them to visit Chitral for reviewing the uplift and rehabilitation projects, the chief minister said he had also directed three concerned provincial ministers to visit Chitral to listen to the problems of the people and take necessary measures to solve them.

Explaining the provincial government’s strategy regarding development projects, he said only those schemes would be initiated which can be completed within the stipulated time and for which required financial resources were available.

Pervez Khattak also sought progress report on Chitral University, Qaqlasht Housing Scheme, Irrigation Water Channel, Atakhalt-Wirinjune Road, Ayun-Bumburate Road, Chitral-Garam Chashma Road, Rescue 1122 Service, working women hostel, repair of Reshun hydropower station and other projects in Chitral.
