District Council budget session was illegal

CHITRAL: JUI Chitral leader Molana Abdur Rehman said the budget session of the district council is illegal.

Addressing a press conference after opposition’s boycott Molana Abdur Rehman, who was JUI’s nominated candidate for district nazim post, said since the sitting district Naib Nazim Molana Abdus Shakur voted against his party candidate during the district nazim election, he has violated the party disciplines as well as local government law.

The law is explicit that if any councilor voted against his party decision he would lose his seat that’s why an inquiry is under process against Molana Abdus Shakur and in the given circumstances legally and morally he could not chair the council’s session. The second reason, he described; as budget was not a child job rather it needed proper discussions and for this session no proper official invitations were circulated.

The leaders of opposition Rehmat Ghazi, Abdul Latif and Abdul Qaum were also present during the press conference. They said that one minority member of the council has lost his seat after a judgment of election tribunal but he was also invited for the session was not only illegal but also contempt of court.
