Four killed as truck falls into ditch

CHITRAL, July 13: Four people lost their lives and one was injured when a truck they were travelling in fell into a ditch near Mashaleen bridge at Koghozi.
Police said the truck was coming to Chitral town from the site of the under-construction Golen hydropower project when it fell into the ditch.
The dead were identified as driver Omar Daraz of Dir, Azmat Ullah, Haji Muhammad and Ejazur Rehman of Koghozi. The injured Abdur Rehman was admitted to the DHQ hospital Chitral where his condition was out of danger.
SHO Koghozi Taj Uddin Lal said the accident occurred due to the poor condition of the Chitral-Booni road. He said the ditch had been dug at the point for the Golen powerhouse and all traffic on the busy road passed by the ditch. He said the truck could not keep balance while climbing the steep road and fell into the ditch. The local people said if the broken down road was not repaired and the ditch left unfilled, there would be the danger of more such accidents.–Bashir Hussain Azad
