SRSP chief receives Ashden Award

The award was given to Masoodul Mulk on June 11 in the International Ashden Conference, “The business of energy: enterprising solutions to the energy access challenge”. On June 11, 2015, 11 pioneering sustainable energy organisations were presented with an Ashden Award worth £10,000–£40,000 at a prestigious ceremony in London, said a statement posted on ashden.org. The SRSP, for its generous intervention in electrifying rural areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by involving the communities, was shortlisted for the 2015 award a few months back. Finally, it won the award for its efforts made in lightning the rural areas. Masoodul Mulk received the award from Per Heggenes, the CEO of the IKEA Foundation, in the crowded King Palace where people from different countries had gathered to see the presentations of finalists and witness the award giving. It is pertinent to mention that Ashden Award goes to the organizations working in the electricity sector and have made significant changes in the life of rural communities not only providing them light but also enable them to successfully operate maintain the facilities.
